Are You Consistent?

I suppose I will always call the Hogs, but I like to dabble in Dabo Swinney! Who is Dabo Swinney, you ask? Dabo is a nickname from his brother who would refer to him in his southern Alabama accent, “that boy.” Get it…dat boy…da-bo! Precious, right? Anyway…Dabo is the head coach of the Clemson Tigers college football team from South Carolina. They are NCAA national champions from last year (beating Alabama) and are set to play LSU in this year’s national championship!

He has an inspirational life story! Recently I watched an interview of Dabo explaining how proud he was of his team being so consistent this year. Consistent in practice and in games, day in and day out. He said he was interested in studying “people of consistency at a high-level.” He said everyone loves the underdog or a great story, but people who are consistent in functioning at a high-level fascinated him. These people, he said, love the daily grind and the “what’s next?” They love the journey.

A people of consistency. Makes me ask myself if I am one of them? Am I consistent at a high-level — not just consistently failing or consistently OK, but consistent at a high-level in my marriage? In my parenting? My job? My faith? Am I consistent day in and day out at a high-level in this journey I’m in?

Sounds like New Year’s resolution words to me! Consistent. Constant. Faithful.

I am deeply grateful for my Creator who is faithful in his love. He is never changing in who He is. He is a constant strong anchor. Consistent at the loftiest level!

Happy New Year! There’s gonna be a lot of daily grinds in 2020! May we consistently journey with Him!
