I am a creature of habit. Thai restaurant? Pad Thai. (There’s nothing better) Extra cheese? No! (My way of dieting) Mexican Food? Yes! (Just yes!) I don’t like change. I like to know what to expect and where things are.
I love the beach and I love the good old El Matador condo. I came here as a kid. It’s not the latest or greatest, but the beach front is near perfect. You see, it’s at the end of the condo row, so if you walk out to the beach and turn right, there is nothing but peace and serenity. No condos. No people! There’s no question! Walk on the beach? Turn right!
We got to meet the boys and their girls for a few days at the beach! We escaped the gorgeous weather Northwest Arkansas was having and drove 13 hours to rain and more rain!
But here it is Sabbath morning and the rain has given way to cloudy skies with the sun trying harder than it has for the last few days to pop out! I go out for a walk and, of course, turn right! I walk a little ways and then have the radical thought, “You know? I’m going to turn around and walk towards the sun!” And oh, glorious day!! There it was! A beautiful site!
You know, often we walk through this life in our routine. In our habit. Neither necessarily bad, as long as we are walking towards the Son. Sometimes we need to radically decide to turn around and make a change. To go a different way.
The sun was only out for a few minutes, but it did wonders for my mood! It gave me hope for a sunnier day!
In this life we don’t always see Jesus clearly and gloriously. The Bible says it’s like we are looking through a dark glass right now. Looking through the clouds. It’s only by walking towards the Son that we will see him popping out in our lives and warming our hearts. It’s only by deciding to walk towards Him that we will be renewed with hope for Son-nier days. The day we will see him face to face. What a glorious day that will be!
