Two years ago I attended a Vocal Majority concert. They sing barbershop style. When the curtain went up their red blazers and white trousers dazzled. Those 144 men sent chills up my spine. I felt like singing with them.
Almost every song featured the high tenors. Just when I thought they had reached their highest note, they went higher. When harmonics kicked in I’d say to myself, “Keep singing. Don’t let that harmonic die.”
I have three of their CD’s. I put them into my Bose Acoustic Wave, turn up the volume and sing with them — when everybody is out of the house.
I read the Prophet John’s book Revelation. I’m not a big scholar when it comes to beasts and such things as that. I really get into the songs of the redeemed. No, it is not a chorus of 144 men. It is myriads of the redeemed from all ages and all places. And I am going to ask them to crank up the volume. No, I’ll sing with the choir and ask myself how I managed to get the tenor part with the harmonics that keep me singing for eternity.
Editor’s Note: Are you alone? Crank up the volume and listen for the harmonic on the last note!
