I was able to carve out a little away time this week. Tom is gracious to say “Go” at least once a year! And so the beach trip with some sweet family-ladies is in progress! Nothing extraordinary. Just sitting and reading and talking and watching the waves! Sometimes to be honest, there isn’t much in my head! Just a welcomed emptiness. No school planning. No fetal monitoring. No laundry! Hey! It’s nice!
But sometimes there are deep thoughts swirling around in my head. Family. Work. Church. Our great nation.
Shirley is here! She’s been teasing me about my love for shelling! Suggesting I may have a bonafide disorder! I am unapologetic! I love the ocean!
It hasn’t been perfect this trip! Just like life!
Sometimes the water is beautifully clear! This time it has seaweed swirling around in it!
Sometimes the waves bring exciting shells. This time the waves forgot!
Sometimes the waves are perfect for floating and talking. Easy to glide over on the boogie board. This time the waves have been pretty big and rough!
Ain’t that the way it goes?
Sometimes it seems super clear the decisions we should make. Sometimes it’s hard to weed through the path we should take!
Sometimes all is well…easy…smooth. Sometimes it gets rough and tiring to stay above life’s waves.
Sometimes life is fun! Exciting! Shells all over! But sometimes life becomes empty and let’s us down!
It seems time and chance happens to us all!
So, what to do about this ever-changing life? I’m thinking we should do as the wise man Jesus did. The one who built His foundation on the Rock. On a foundation of what is True and Lasting.
In these court deciding, entitling, racial hating, evolution loving days, it’s easy to get overwhelmed. I want to live on a foundation of Truth. Truth and Love. I believe those coexist together!
Let the waves come big and bold. Let the water be hard to see through. Let life let us down! For there is none like our God! He will not leave us or forsake us! He will carry us through! We can be assured, all his words are True! (Psalm 119:160)
