God knows exactly what we need. He also knows when we need it. I had so much fear traveling all the way to Washington to work at a place I had never even seen. The only thing I know is that God chose me to be a staff member at Sunset Lake. God knew that my introvert self would be fearful and scared at times, so He made a plan (far before I even knew I would be working at camp).
After arriving at Sunset Lake, I met Emily Ellis, another lifeguard who I would be rooming with. Right when I met her I knew we would become the best of friends. God had settled my uneasy heart.
Emily is an energetic bundle of joy. God’s beauty shines so bright out of her. It’s inspiring. She is a dedicated Christian in love with The Maker of the mountains.
Before staff meeting every morning we take our Bibles and go lay in our hammocks in the quiet and stillness of this peaceful place. Basically every conversation we have consists of “What trail should we hike today?” and Jesus. We push each other to walk in His Light.
People like her are a rarity in this world.
I am in awe at how God proved Himself faithful to me. Camp hasn’t even started and I am already beginning to see my purpose here. If you ever feel that your spiritual life is in need of revival, I want to urge you to pray for an “Emily.”
