God Has Forgiven You

Ephesians 4:32 says, “Instead, be kind to each other, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God through Christ has forgiven you.”

I greatly admire parents and what they do. It is no easy task to raise kids in the world we live in. This came to my realization when I was babysitting the other day.

The two children I was watching were playing outside when the little boy scratched his sister because he was angry. Instantly, I told the boy to apologize to his sister and he gave her scratch a kiss. Right after this, the little girl said, “That doesn’t count! You have to say you’re sorry as many times as you’ve hurt me!” Right when I heard this I turned the situation into a Biblical lesson on forgiveness. I said, “Think about how many times we hurt God everyday, yet we ask Him one time to forgive us and He is faithful to forgive them all. If we had to say ‘sorry’ as many times as we hurt God, we would never stop saying it!”

I love how God uses simple things like babysitting to remind me of His beautiful promise of compassion — that He will cast all our sins into the depths of the ocean and they will be gone forever. We are forgiven. We are loved. So we should live each day paying love and forgiveness forward to all we encounter.
